PUBLISH, SELL AND PROMOTE YOUR MUSIC
Essential Tips for Music Marketing in the Age of Streaming
Format 21 x 29 cm (A4) - 216 pages
PREFACE
GENESIS
This book is only partly the result of my own direct experience, but derives mainly from extensive research carried out by consulting numerous reports, blogs, editorial articles and interviews, thus collecting numerous direct and indirect testimonies from various successful artists, producers and promoters, as well as other experts from the world of digital music publishing and marketing.
The first phase of my work therefore involved researching and translating from English a considerable number of written and spoken sources for analysis.
A second step was to acquire some first-hand confirmation.
Subsequently, in order to get my head around the enormous amount of data acquired, there followed a long, orderly cataloguing of the thousands of concepts and fragmentary opinions collected haphazardly from a thousand different authoritative sources.
Finally, a lengthy and precise synthesis was necessary in order to be able to offer the reader a relatively simple, but sufficiently complete and coherent picture of the subject matter.
CONTENTS
The content of this book is aimed at familiarising new artist-producers with the context of music publishing in the age of streaming, so that they can use and hone specific techniques to foster good results.
Without sufficient knowledge of the context and a correct use of the most effective operating techniques, it will be almost impossible to achieve significant results, whereas the persevering application of what is written in this manual can lay the foundations to steer the self-publishing artist towards success.
It has to be said, however, that despite these efforts, in most cases these results will remain largely uncertain, depending on many unpredictable but, to some extent, manageable elements.
But it is also true that even less skilled and fortunate practitioners will still be able to greatly enhance the impact of their compositional and performative efforts, simply by implementing these techniques.
If the doors of great success do not open to them, they may still achieve partial success, which may crown them as professionals, allowing them to live solely from the fruit of their artistic work, which is already a great success.
The manual would like to offer basic know-how for these purposes, and outline the main guidelines towards which self-produced artists can orient themselves.
Streaming has changed all the rules of the game, making many things easier and more accessible and complicating many others.
It is a world in full mutation, and success will also depend on the ability to keep up with the changes taking place, acting intelligently and dynamically.
Good work, therefore, with best wishes.
